The W. Garfield Weston Foundation has donated $25,000 to the Riverdale Farm. This generous donation will help springboard the newly formed Riverdale Farm Stewardship Group's fundraising efforts. The Riverdale Farm was selected by The W. Garfield Weston Foundation's Board Members as an important initiative to support. Matching the $25,000 donation will go a long way toward building a sustainable funding base for this important community resource.

Riverdale Farm has been an essential and well loved part of the City of Toronto for decades.  By showing your support- the Farm will continue to be a destination for thousands of families every year.   Come and experience a horse being groomed, a goat being milked and chickens laying eggs or simply enjoy the quiet tranquility of our “farm in the city”.

Your donation will help to ensure that generations both young and old will continue to visit their favourite farm animals, participate in our farm based programs or just experience this beautiful place and create a long lasting memory.

Family Destination

Thousands of families visit Riverdale Farm every year. It is an accessible destination with no admission fees where families can bring their own lunch, roam freely on the 7.5 acres, commune with nature and enjoy the outdoor experience.

Education

o Riverdale Farm provides a learning opportunity for everyone to make the connection between what they eat and where their food comes from.

Food

oRiverdale Farm hosts a Farmers' Market on Tuesdays 2pm- 7pm June through mid October supporting local Ontario farmers and food producers.

Heritage Breeds

o Riverdale Farm keeps a variety of rare breed livestock. These animals represent livestock kept on Ontario farms in the early 20th Century when farms were single family and self supporting. As food demands increased, many of the original breeds were crossbred to meet mass production needs. In some cases this resulted in the elimination of the original breeds.

Natural Environment

o Visitors with interests in conservation, local wildlife and the environment will discover the ponds on the property are an important example of biodiversity.
