BULBS, a partnership between Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation and Take BAC,
is a program that seeks to beautify public parks and other publicly
accessible green spaces through establishing permanent plantings of
spring flowering bulbs. It encompasses a youth component that works
with community youth leadership programs and places youth in an active
role in
planning and leading these planting events.
As well, the Foundation directly supports community groups from across
Toronto, providing them with bulbs to beautify their neighbourhoods.
Reinforcing research findings, the BULBS
program will help build safer communities through greening and
beautification, and by providing a forum for communities to work
together.
The BULBS program has included
youth leadership program initiated major plantings in all of Toronto's
Priority neighbourhoods. As well, dozens of community groups have
participated in local neighbourhood beautification projects. 190,000 daffodil bulbs have been planted across Toronto in the past four years.
BULBS is supported by
corporate and individual sponsorship and donations. For information
